I had been planning a WY trip when I reached out to Marshall for a custom box. Not only did he provide expert suggestions on what areas of the state I should plan on hitting based on the time of my trip, he also gave me a heads-up regarding what hatches I should expect and to keep an eye on flows and plan accordingly.
After quite a few back and forths, we came up with an epic box that had me well prepared for just about anywhere in the state. As luck would have it, river flows deemed most of the state washed out at the time of my trip so I had to audible to a part of the state I hadn’t originally planned on fishing. Thanks to Marshall’s expertise, my fly box was already more than well prepared! I had an awesome week catching rainbows and cutty’s up to 21″, and I owe a ton of this success to Marshall and all the help provided. I will certainly be reaching back out prior to any fishing trip I plan moving forward!

I planned a Colorado trip to fish the Rio and the surrounding backcountry streams, not thinking I needed new flies, but a couple of weeks before my trip, the hatch was changing, and I was in a bind to procure the flies I needed. I reached out to Marshall to see if he could tie up a few dozen flies to match the hatch, and he came through BIG TIME! I had an amazing fly-fishing excursion catching 30+ fish days some days without changing out a single fly. The durability of each fly was unmatched. Typically, I would run through 3-4 flies because they began to unravel, but with Cowtown flies, they were able to hold up for multiple days at a time catching dozens of fish and even some of the weariest of fish without fail. Along with their durability, the flies were also very detailed to ensure all the different types of flies were identical to one another, keeping the body lengths, tails, wings, casings etc. consistent, which is huge in my book!
Marshalls did a tremendous job, and his customer service was excellent. For instance, I had a couple of streamers in my fly box that I had great success with on trips prior, which I could not find online or reproduce. He was able to mimic the design and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome, talk about being custom!
CowTown is a one-stop shop from freshwater to salt he’s able to produce top-end flies that will hold up to dozens of fish, give you great advice if you are unsure about what flies to order, and even customize flies based on a photo. Moving forward, CowTown will be my go-to supplier for flies.
In December I’m planning to take a trip to Belize to target bonefish and permit, Marshall will be my first call to see if he can set me up with a killer box.
